Professor Santi is Chairman of the Italian National Committee for Bio-safety and Biotechnology (CNBB) at the Presidency of the Council of the Ministers (Rome), President of the International Society for Preventive Oncology, New York, President of the Technical and Scientific Committee of the Agency for the Promotion of European Research (Rome), Director of the Superior Institute of Oncology (ISO) of the Ministry of Training, University and Scientific Research (MIUR). He has written over 250 scientific publications in experimental oncology and oncological pathology, with emphasis on lung cancers, occupational tumors, and biological response modifiers. He is a member of a variety of national and international scientific organizations and is on the editorial board of many international scientific journals.

He is member of the following Committee:

• European Group on Life Sciences (EGLS), European Commission, Bruxelles
• European Cancer Research Forum, European Commission, Bruxelles
• Coordinator of US-Italy Committee on biotechnology
• Coordinator of UK-Italy Committee on biotechnology
